A Refreshing Summer Drink – Iced Green Tea Lemonade

April 04 2015

Yes, summer just started! So, it’s time to savor some sizzling summer-special drinks and eats such as a refreshing iced green tea lemonade. Lemon and sugary drinks are hot favorite in hot summer days and you know why. And adding green tea to the fresh lemon juice and water sweetened using sugar or honey will add more to your health benefits as well as refreshment.

It is quite easy to prepare this energizing and yummy (I find it yummy!) iced green tea lemonade at home. So, at least it doesn’t make sense to me why I need to pay a large amount every month to grab the antioxidant rich green tea made using preserved syrups which are more harmful to your body than good.

Ingredients you will need,

  • Fresh lemon
  • Sugar or honey
  • Ice cubes
  • Hot water
  • Cold water
  • Green tea (both loose leaf green tea and green tea bags will do)

Estimated Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Method (to prepare 2 Cup of Iced Green tea Lemonade):

  • Take 1-2 teaspoon of loose leaf green tea in a container.
  • Pour some hot water over the green tea leaves in the container and close the vessel for 3-5 minute.
  • Filter the green tea drink in a glass and mix it with lemonade (a mix of water, fresh lemon juice and sugar; make sure you prepare lemonade using cold water)
  • Top it off with 2-3 ice cubes and then keep it in a refrigerator for 5-10 minutes
  • Your cool green tea drink is ready, guzzle down it whenever you want!

This green tea recipe flaunts rich flavors of fresh- steeped green tea leaves and lemons along with the high nutritional values of the ingredients. And more interestingly, it can be instantly prepared for events of all kinds like picnic, cocktail party, social gathering or a summer trip.

Are you hosting a party at your home this weekend for your loved ones or friends? Why don’t you consider preparing this iced green tea recipe at home? You can also serve it with burger, pizza or any other fast food item you may want.

The summer special drinks you try at some famous outlets or labels typically use some preservative and sugar syrup which will simply do no good to your health and increase your calories. Thus, I strongly recommend having the honey version of this iced green tea lemonade or save on calories.

Honey contains a good amount of vitamins, antioxidants and mineral that are good for health. And lemons are a rich source of Vitamin C and antioxidants. So, prepare your lemonade and mix it with a cup of Arthealth green tea.

I have come across many recipes over the web that recommend preparing a large batch of green tea and then store it in a refrigerator, which can be used later whenever needed. But many studies claim that Catechins in green tea degrade over time and thus if one wants to ensure the maximum amount of antioxidants from the leaves, it is always wise to brew your cup fresh.

What’s more, this recipe is scalable! You can also prepare its fruit version adding blueberries and raspberries. Or you can also top it off your drink with a few leaves of fresh mint, or with 2-3 slice of strawberry and pineapple.
